Copan

This is our visit to the Mayan Ruins of Copan, we came about this place by coincidence as it was our four hour stop over from Antigua (Guat) to La Cieba (the gate way to the bay islands in Honduras). This place is believed to cultural centre of the Mayan world, which inhabited most of Central America.

Although Copan is not as big and mysterious as the famous Tikal it does have beautifuly well preserved stone carvings and hidden underground tunnels and temples.

Our highlight here was in the colourful full scale replica of the Rosalina Temple, which was complelty built over the top off and is now buried below the main ruins.

On top of all of this we got to see our first Macaw that day!!!
